As he is so often on site and unable to answer his phone, the best course of action is to leave a message with one of our friendly Admin team and if they cannot help you they will get him to give you a call back as soon as he is able.
  • What is your lead time for a new Garage Door or Gate?
Depending on whether you are after a basic pre-made door from our suppliers or a Custom product from us, our lead time is approximately 4 - 6 weeks from the date of your deposit.
  • How much does it cost for a new garage door or gate?
Unfortunately there is no "standard price" as in Australia there is no standard for garage doors or gates. As a starting price, for a pre-made garage door installed, you would be starting at around the $5k mark and around the same for a simple gate. From there, the sky is the limit depending on the intricacy of your designs and the materials used.
  • How often should I service my Garage Door?
To prolong the lifespan of your Garage Door, we highly recommend servicing it once per year. If you purchase your door through us and service yearly, we will extend the Warranty from 2 - 5 years!
  • What type of belt drives do we use?
We use belt drive openers as opposed to the now outdated chain drive. The sound output of these are just a fraction of that of a chain drive and they are highly reliable and efficient.
  • What is the lifespan of your motors?
In general, Garage Door and Gate Motors come with a 2 year manufacturers Warranty (excluding batteries, remotes and light bulbs). If we do the installation and you service yearly with us, we will extend this to 5 years. We hope that they will last you much longer than that!
  • What is the difference between a Tilt, Sectional or Roller door?
Head over to our Garage Door page for full information on each type, but in general a "typical" garage door in Australia is a Sectional Door. It has a track going along the ceiling in your garage, and your door opens and goes along the track in individual panels. Tilt doors are one single piece which pivots to open and Roller Doors open vertically in the opening around a central drum / wheel.
  • Roller Door vs Roller Shutter?
Roller Doors are typically built with one single piece of galvanised coated steel curtain whereas roller shutters are made of several horizontal interlocking slats. Roller Doors have a fast open and close function and are perfect for standard doors, whereas Roller Shutters are normally done via specialist companies who are experts in their fields such as fire protection or terror protection.
  • What type of gate do I need?
The type of gate you are after will typically be defined by the space you have and the look you are trying to achieve. Head over to our "gates" page above where you will find a list of the gates, what you need for each, and some example photos!
  • Our installation is installed today but it is raining!
The great news is that if your installation is for a garage door, normally we can continue as planned. If is torrential rain however we may need to reschedule in order to keep your garage and our equipment safe! Unfortunately, if your installation is a Gate, we will need to reschedule. When we are working with heavy equipment and electrical components, we need to ensure our staff are kept safe. We will do our best to reschedule to the soonest available sunny day.
  • Help! There is a power outage and my car is stuck inside!
To disengage the motor, pull down on the red release leaver. You should now be able to lift up your Garage Door. CAUTION! The doors will be very heavy and if they fall down without the aid of the motor, the impact can permanently damage your door. Only do this if 100% necessary. For future you can always install a backup battery which will give you enough power in the event of emergency.
  • My remote isn't working properly
Changing the battery is the first step! You can either do it yourself, we can help, or your local Mister Minit (or equivalent) are always a great help! * Charges apply for the battery Ensure the power is turned on to your motor (it happens - trust us!) Recode the remote if necessary (see below)
  • I changed my battery and now the remote won't work. How do I recode it?
Unfortunately this one isn't quite as simple as it sounds. Each motor has a different type of system and each remote have different frequencies and settings too. In general, there is a button on your motor which you are able to press to prepare your unit to accept the new code. When you then press the button on your remote the light on the motor should blink indicating pairing. We recommend looking up your manufacturer's instruction manual (see our handy Instruction Manual page for the most common ones), or we are always available to come and do it for you. We charge a reduced rate for jobs which are remotes only.
  • My Garage Door won't open
Firstly - don't panic! We are here to help. Step 1. Check your circuit breaker. - If it has tripped then you will not be able to open your door. - If it is off, then reset it and if it trips again immediately or next time you try and open the door, you will need to give us a call. Step 2. Circuit and power are ok but it still won't open. - Try another handset if you have one available. See if it works on the wall button or remote or vice versa. - If one of the remote handsets do work then try and replace the batteries on the one not working. If it still does not work then replace the individual remote. Step 3. The motor seems to be working but it isn't opening. - Check that the motor hasn't been accidentally manually disengaged - If you have sensor beams, check they aren't obstructed - Check the lifting cables and springs to see if anything is broken. - Call us if anything is broken or everything else seems normal and it still isn't working!
  • How do I re-engage the motor?
Depending on your specific brand, when you have disengaged the motor, you should be able to see a little spring which is extended from the rail to the lever. If you pull the red cord again but this time towards the inside of your garage instead of straight downwards, this will cause the spring to retract and the mechanism to re-engage.
  • My gate only opens partially and then closes again
This is one of the biggest things we get calls for and 9/10 times is an easy fix. Thoroughly clean the tracks and check that nothing is in the way of the sensor beams. It is also important to spray the area for ants as one of their favourite homes are inside gate motors.
  • My door is noisy!
As a first step we recommend lubricating the hinges and springs. Boston has been our go to brand. Available directly from us, or you can also purchase from your local hardware store.
